Jim O’Leary leads Edelman’s Corporate practice across 22 offices in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Jim has extensive strategic communications experience. He works with many Fortune 500 companies and has led agency teams for Hewlett-Packard, General Electric, eBay, Tyco, Lockheed Martin, PayPal, Bombardier, Entergy and ITT Corporation, among others. His sector expertise includes technology, aerospace and defense, manufacturing and energy. He previously ran Edelman’s global industrials, transportation and infrastructure group. Specializing in high-profile corporate transformations—from turnarounds to international expansions and breakups—Jim’s functional leadership skills include corporate and financial communications, digital and social engagement, crisis and issues management, executive positioning, employee engagement, public affairs, corporate social responsibility, reputation measurement and brand communications. In 2011, Jim led the Edelman team responsible for helping the world’s first conglomerate successfully demerge into three separate, publicly traded companies. The effort has been recognized as one of the fastest and most successful corporate transformations in recent history, receiving many of the industry’s top awards. More recently, Jim led the Edelman teams that supported the separation of eBay and PayPal, and Hewlett-Packard’s five-year turnaround strategy under CEO Meg Whitman. Jim was recognized among PR Week’s “40 Under 40” for these efforts. Prior to joining Edelman, Jim was a communications leader and spokesman for Honeywell, a Fortune 100 diversified technology and manufacturing leader.
