Early on, Hannah Kerner made the connection between the importance of space exploration, the development of the economy and environmental protection here on Earth. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Exploration Systems Design at Arizona State University, researching machine learning applications for planetary science and robotics. She is the lead systems and software engineer on a cube satellite project that will be launched in 2018 and sent to the Moon. Previously, Ms. Kerner worked as an embedded software engineer for Planet Labs, Inc., at NASA's Langley Research Center and Goddard Space Flight Center, and served as the Chairman of Students for the Exploration & Development of Space. When she's not working in the lab or on a computer, she can be found learning to fly airplanes, scuba diving, hiking, or exploring a good book.
